4th students performed a science experiment with thin lava and thick lava to help them answer the question “Why do some volcanoes explode?”

Every year digital citizenship is more and more important in all of our lives. During 6 months this year we will focus on 6 areas of digital citizenship, providing resources and support for our Oly families. More details here: http://bit.ly/OlyDigCitOverview

Olympia West is participating in the Art to Remember fundraiser this fall. Student order forms are being sent home on Tuesday and the link to online ordering was sent out in the Weekly Notes. Parents may find their child’s artwork by searching by name or the order code found on the order form. The deadline to place an order is October 13. This is a great opportunity to purchase gifts showcasing your child’s artwork. All items ordered will arrive before Christmas break.

Students at Olympia West were greeted by our 4th grade Spartan Crew as they arrived at school. The Spartan Crew is a group of 4th and 5th grade Student Council members. #SpartanStrong

Fourth graders used clues from the video to practice making inferences.

Edmentum: Calvert Learning has identified the issue causing student progress to not be visible. No progress has been lost. They expect to have a resolution by 10:30 AM. We will send an update when we receive word of the fix.

Thank you Oly West PTO and families for taking great care of our staff and "stocking our fridge"! We appreciate your support!

When you hear the words March Madness you typically think of basketball. At Olympia West, March Madness means the Tournament of Books. The top 16 picture books read aloud in class were matched against each other. 4th and 5th grade students would vote each week for their favorite book. Remote learning couldn’t stop these students from listening to the book being read, learning, and voting. The championship round starts tomorrow. Which book will be voted the best book- The Day the Crayons Quit or Henry’s Freedom Box?

Mrs. Bachman knows it’s a little colder today but it’s still a great day to let your Spartan spirit shine!
