Tough outing for JV bb today dropping 2 to East Peoria. B Tackett and B Fairburn hitting stars of the day. J Martin took the loss in the first game and T Alexander in the second. The boys will bounce back and be ready Monday at Maroa-Forsyth!!
The Olympia high school track team spent the afternoon/evening in Rochester for the Rocket invite. Competition was fierce and the Oly girls showed up by finishing 6th out of 15 teams. These girls are continuing to shave seconds off their times. Big PR’s happened last night:
Amanda Gonzalez hit a PR in her 4x8 split running a 2:31
4x1 (Mya Downs, Melissa Bieber, Grace Whiteside and Charlee Durham) ran a fast 52.93 PR
Amelia Kistner-12:14 and Sidney Beaver- 14:35 both had big PR’s in the 3200
Madyson Bridgeforth-13.85 and Palmer Scheets-13.60 both PR’s in the 100m dash
Jorgi Dupureur with a PR in the 400
Kaylie Dare ran a 6:00.06 in the 1600, she is so close to a sub 6
Mya downs with a PR of 28.89 in the 200
Charlee Durham jumped a PR of 15.41 ft in long jump
4x4 (Palmer scheets, Grace Whiteside, Emma Swartzendruber and Charlee Durham) ran our fastest time so far of 4:15.15 which is less then 2 seconds from state qualifying!
In that 4x4 Charlee ran a PR split of 1:01.9
It was a cold and late night but it was worth it!! Good work spartans!

Another school record goes down this morning. Keagan Uphoff breaks the vertical jump record with a leap of 33" breaking his previous school record from a year ago of 31.5"! Great job Keagan.
It was a fun night at the Olympia Co-ed Relays! There were 12 teams competing in this not so traditional meet. We had several girls trying out new events to complete the co-ed relay part and they all had so much fun trying new things. The highlight of the evening was our shuttle hurdle relay team (Melissa Bieber, Charlee Durham, Cooper Phillips and Keagan Uphoff) taking first by almost 6 seconds. The co-ed shot put team (Hannah Cleveland, Kyra West, Nolen Yeary and Cohen Manes) got first place adding to our team points.
There were so many good things from last night:
4x8- (Amanda Gonzalez, Amelia Kistner, Kaylie Dare and Emma Swartzendruber) finished 1st place with our best time of the season 10:31.2
4x4- (Melissa Bieber, Grace Whiteside, Emma Swartzendruber, Charlee Durham) finished 2nd with our seasons fastest time of 4:15.4
Long jump- Charlee durham jumped a PR of 4.66m for a girls 1st place
Thank you to Palmer and Melissa for stepping up and competing in high jump and to Emma and Kaylie for getting out of their comfort zone in triple jump.
A big congrats to the seniors, Hannah Cleveland, Kyra West, Jorgi Dupureur, Abi Escalante and Melissa Bieber who were also recognized last night.
This morning Kade Lollar broke the all-time record for 3 lift total with a combined weight of 1130 (Bench 325, clean 300, Squat 505). The previous record was held by now SIU football player Blaine Halley (1125). Huge accomplishment for Kade!

The Olympia Co-Ed Relays track meet has been postponed to Wednesday April 17th.
Varsity baseball gets a big 1-0 win at Pontiac tonight. Hohulin and Gellner with a hit apiece. Dabney gets the win (5.1IP, 2H, 0ER, 7K's) out dueling Indiana recruit Brummel. Kindred (1.2IP, 3K's) gets the save. Spartans back on the road tomorrow at Riverton.
Girls Varsity Soccer takes one to the chin tonight at Athens, girls fall 8-0. Girls back in action Thursday night as they travel to Williamsville!

The OHS boys' track team battled cool temps, strong winds, and fierce competition at the Monticello Invite on Friday night. The Spartans placed 6th out of 17 teams with 56 points. Senior Keagan Uphoff had a spectacular night, winning 3 events: high jump (6' 0"), 110 m hurdles (15.95), and 300 m hurdles (40.91). Junior Cohen Alexander also scored big, placing in all three of the dash races: 5th in the 100 (11.55), 5th in the 200 (23.65), and 4th in the 400 (season best 53.09). The following athletes had all-time best performances: Evan Petri in the 3200 run (11:37.30), Corbin Rios in the 100 m dash (12.64), Caden Clark (2:17.36) and Jacob Lawless (2:15.04) in the 800 m run, Cohen Ellis in the 400 m dash (1:04.73), Paul Yeary in the 1600 m run (5:45.48), Dylan Nowaskie in the high jump (5th place at 5' 10"), Cohen Maness in the shot put (38' 5"), and TJ Gellner in the triple jump (36' 0.5"). Season best efforts came from: Cooper Phillips in the 300 hurdles (6th place in 45.19), Logan Demling (5:18.27) and Jacob Lawless (5:18.85) in the 1600 m run, and Blake Youngren in the 200 m dash (25.21).
