We are thrilled to announce the official Olympia CUSD 16 AI Plan: A Partnership for Responsible Innovation.

Forget the sci-fi movies. Our district isn’t looking to replace our amazing teachers with machines. Instead, we are embracing AI as a powerful "digital partner" designed to handle the busy work so our educators can focus on what matters most: your child.

Here is the scoop on what’s coming:

• Supercharged Learning: Imagine a tutor that never gets tired. We are using AI to create personalized learning that adapts to your child's pace, offering extra help when they’re stuck and new challenges when they’re ready to soar.

• The "Traffic Light" System: Confused about when your child can use AI for homework? We’ve made it simple.

  • 🟢 GREEN: Go for it! (Brainstorming, spell-checking).

  • 🟡 YELLOW: Caution! (Citation required; like using AI to generate an outline).

  • 🔴 RED: Stop! (AI writes the essay for you? That’s a hard "No.")

• Safety Is Our Golden Rule: We are teaching students the #1 rule of the digital age: Never put personal, private info into a public AI tool. Your child’s privacy is non-negotiable.

This isn’t just a tech upgrade; it’s a commitment to keeping our students ahead of the curve while keeping them safe.
