Last spring the Those Who Excel committee announced the following individuals as the 2020 Olympia District representatives for each of the Those Who Excel categories. The Illinois State Board of Education then read over all the letters of recommendation and other documents that were sent for each nominee from the various Illinois schools and determined a level of award for each nominee. The award levels were recognition, merit, or excellence. We were recently notified of our nominees' recognition levels.
Sophia Estes (1st grade teacher at Olympia South): Meritorious Service in the Early Career Educator category
Elizabeth Hendricks (Special Education Teacher at Olympia Middle School): Meritorious Service in the Classroom Teacher category
Sean Mullins (Instructional Technology Director): Meritorious Service in the Administrator category
Olympia South Elementary Cafeteria Staff (Jamie Beth Furman, Sheila Spencer, and Diana Leindl): Meritorious Service in the Team category
Lisa Steve (College and Career Counselor at Olympia High School): Excellence in the Student Support Personnel category
Scott Thornton (O & M Director): Meritorious Service in the Educational Service Personnel category
